A Brief History of New Life Christian Fellowship
1993-1996
- A Wednesday Night Vietnamese Bible Study initiated by Jane Serna at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.
- Pastor Vincent Vu Pham from the Vietnamese Alliance Church of Santa Ana was asked to teach the Bible verse by verse in Vietnamese, starting from the Book of Matthew.
1997-1998
- When the study approached the Book of Acts, God had brought many Vietnamese to the Bible Study.
- It was a unanimous decision of the group to walk by faith and trust in the leading of the Spirit, as we have studied in the Book of Act, to have a Sunday service.
- Pastor Pham consulted with Pastor Chuck Smith and had his approval. The first Sunday service began on Nov. 1997 in the High School Library. The service was in Vietnamese.
- God continued to add more people to the Fellowship and the Sunday service was moved from the Library to the Performing Art classroom.
- The Fellowship filed for non-profit corporation and was led to 2Cor. 5:17 to select the name New Life Christian Fellowship.
1999-2000
- A bilingual service was started to accommodate the English and Vietnamese attendants.
- More people attended the service than the classroom can hold.
- We began to pray for God’s leading to a larger facility.
- Christmas services were held at Calvary Chapel Westminster
2001-Present
- God opened the door to meet with Pastor Brad Young, Senior Pastor, and the Board of Calvary Chapel Westminster (which has moved to a new location in Garden Grove) to use the church facility on Trask Avenue.
- On August 2001 New Life Christian Fellowship moved from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa to the Trask Facility of Calvary Chapel Westgrove.
- Two Sunday services in Vietnamese and English were held for the first time.
- More ministries were established to minister to different needs in the church.
- On January 2008 New Life Christian Fellowship moved from theTrask Facility of Calvary Chapel Westgrove to the current Garden Grove facility.
